I am not sure why they are saying this is for the 9700 because the sensors are on the outside of the unit, not in the back as shown in the picture

This item is a nice charger, but it does NOT sync the BlackBerry. The item description is wrong. You will still need to plug in the micro-USB cable (or go Bluetooth) if you want to synchronize. It is a good value as a CHARGER, but it does NOT synchronize. For what it is worth, the item description on the RIM corporate site is wrong as well.

It works as advertised. Looks nice too. They put an LED on the back of the unit… To me that was a bit strange. I use it at work and it makes my BB a nice clock in standby mode.
