Reassuring to have a battery that will last up to at least 3 hours instead of just one hour.

I am most happy with my new extended battery for my Sony Vaio laptop. It gives me 3-hours plus usage on a full battery. Despite the fact that it does not fit flush with this mini laptop, it does not look bad or hampers use in any way. I highly recommend users to purchase this battery for extended laptop use.

The battery has a little hump thath makes the computer lean towards you a little bit. With this battery the computer barely fits it’s case, but still fits. Since I use my vaio P mostly in trips this is a must buy for me. Reccomended.

OK, Lets get one thing out right from the start… you proably aren’t going to get the 8 hours that Sony claims on their website. But with good power management, you should get closer to 5 hours maybe even 5.5 hours.

I didn’t like the physical design of the battery. It seemed that with it on, the laptop didn’t want to sit down flat, the front wanted to hang up in the air. It is hard to explain it, but once you own it you will see. It isn’t that noticeable once you rest your hands on it and start doing stuff, but once to take your hands off, the front begins to levitate again. When you are spending $1030 (MSRP) between the computer and battery, you would think a little refinement would have gone into design.

Ultimately, if you are going to get a Sony P series computer, this is a must have accessory. Any minor quibbles are quickly overlooked with double the lifespan of the small battery that ships with the computer.

Like all extended batteries, you can not expect it to fit the design of your laptop perfectly. I’m happy Sony at least made it extend downwards, keeping the laptop in a downward like angle, as opposed to making extend backwards. I prefer the Vaio P be on a little angle, besides, I think it makes it easier to type, as opposed to having the battery extend backwards and not allowing the Vaio P to fit into one of it’s designed cases. …yes, even with this battery, the Vaio P will fit comfortably into any of the cases Sony has designed for it, even the leather one.

As for performance, and again, like any battery out there, don’t expect it to last as long as Sony promises, unless you really dim the screen to like nothing, turn off the wireless, speakers, etc… By dimming the screen to about 3 bars (still comfortable for me, the Vaio P has a SUPER bright LCD) and wireless off, I get about 6 hours, with the same settings plus a Sprint USB Internet Card I get about 5 1/2 hours.

Before I purchased the battery, I Googled images, but found none showing the battery on the laptop, so I’ll post images of what that looks like, for future shoppers. …as well as images of what the laptop will look like while in the leather Sony case with this battery on it.

I was iffy about giving it 5 stars, since the battery is a bit heavy (not SUPER heavy, but I’m sure it could be lighter), but it does it’s job pretty well, and it’s just a battery (can’t believe I’m reviewing a battery LOL).
